Interesting post. Webhosting is very competitive nowadays and a lot of providers provide a lot of special perks to get their customers. Personally I like hosting with singapore web hosting provider as their support and uptime has been great so far.

I prefer self hosted Wordpress then Wordpress.com or other blog host because you get more power upon your blog and can do a lot of other things that you cannnot do in a hosted blog

Have you looked at XOOMblogs.com? It's really free. No gimmicks (at least from what I can tell). The service is fast and the support is great. I highly recommend checking them out if you want someone else to deal with your wordpress support, and you just want to blog. Just MHO. I just checked it out – cool service. But I was looking for absolute top level domain self hosted word press blog hosting. I actually found it elsewhere. I do recognize the need for the service, however – I am a certified pro blogger and need more.
