Have you looked at XOOMblogs.com? It's really free. No gimmicks (at least from what I can tell). The service is fast and the support is great. I highly recommend checking them out if you want someone else to deal with your wordpress support, and you just want to blog. Just MHO. (I am not affiliated with them in any way, just thought I'd share my host).
